Choosing the right generator size

Generator sizing is critical — too small and you risk overloading the unit and damaging your equipment, too large and you're paying for capacity you don't need. The key is calculating your total load: add up the wattage of everything that will run simultaneously, then add 20–25% headroom for motor starting surges.

Small portable units (under 10kW) suit homeowner applications, small tools, lighting, and single-phase equipment at remote locations or during power outages.

Mid-range units (10kW–50kW) cover most construction site power needs — running multiple tools, site lighting, compressors, and small HVAC simultaneously.

Large industrial units (50kW+) are the right choice for remote camp power, facility backup, large plant operations, and any application requiring three-phase power or continuous high-load output.
