Why rough terrain over a standard scissor lift?

Standard electric scissor lifts are designed for smooth, level indoor surfaces. Rough terrain scissor lifts are a completely different category — built with four-wheel drive, larger all-terrain tyres, higher ground clearance, and diesel or dual-fuel power systems that handle uneven ground, slopes, gravel, mud, and the outdoor conditions that come with Northern Alberta worksites year-round.

If your work is happening outdoors, on a construction site, at an oilfield facility, or anywhere the ground isn't smooth and flat — an RT scissor lift is the right choice. The large platform deck also makes them ideal for tasks that require multiple workers or tools at height simultaneously.

Scissor lift vs boom lift — which do you need?

The key difference is platform size vs horizontal reach. Scissor lifts rise vertically on a scissor mechanism — delivering a large, stable work platform directly above the machine's footprint. Boom lifts extend outward as well as upward, giving you horizontal reach but a smaller platform.

Choose a scissor lift when you need a large platform for multiple workers or materials, you're working directly above your position, and stability is the priority. Choose a boom lift when you need to reach out over an obstacle or access a point that isn't directly above where the machine is parked.
